Everyone expects new retirees to have lots of plans in place, either for exciting new adventures, or to rest and recuperate for a while after a demanding career.

People at retirement age are now fitter and healthier than they have ever been before, and times have changed dramatically since our parents' day, when retirement was a time to spend with family and friends, and generally puddle about in our twilight years.

Nowadays it's a time to do all the things we didnt' get to do before, as well as some of the puddling about... if there's the time or the inclination!

More and more people are realising that once retired from full-time work, they still have a lot to give in the way of skills and experience, and a lot of energy to move on to new projects, or take up old ones that were put aside.

What is a career?

The concept of "career" is becoming increasingly fluid - as life enters new phases and circumstances add to a person's situation, so the need for guidance arises at various times in a person's life.
